Also, if you live enough time to pass the substantial presence test in the United States, this does not apply to you. So what's the substantial presence test? It means that if you stayed for 183 days in the US for the past three years, it won't apply to you. Now, the 183 days is not like you stayed 100 this year and 83 days the past year.
